Michele Kershaw is an artist/printmaker based in the Otway Ranges in South West Victoria.
She hold a Diploma of Visual Arts from CQ University ad TAFE and was employed after a casual teacher/lecturer in the Visual Art program for a ten year period.
A principal theme in Michele's work has always been the environment and the place in which she lives. Her works re often layered, the printmaking part may take the form of etching, a carving into wood or lino. Mark making is important as images and concepts are all formed from memory and quite often abstracted.
She may also draw into printed works, sew fine threads or layer with translucent papers. The main support, paper is often weathered or aged experimenting with natural pigments and dyes of the weather and time. Many works are not printed, just simply carved or embossed into and then 'inked up'.
